Most gamers believe that the casino blackjack, also called 21, is the easiest to beat. In fact, it is estimated that in the United States, this game has more players than all the players of roulette, baccarat, and craps combined.
The fundamental secret in the blackjack is learning how to hit, double down, stand and divide pairs. What is even more attracting is that you only require a little time to learn how to play well.
The basic rules of the game
The standard game involves the use of a 52-card pack. In most casinos, a number of cards are shuffled together. The most popular of these is the six-deck game where 312 cards are shuffled at the same time. A blank placard is used to signal time for a reshuffle.
The dealer places the card below the pack and when the players get to it, they wait for the reshuffle. If the decks in use are four or more, then the placard cannot be effective. Here, the dealer uses a shoe which allows the dealer to take out cards one after the other. The players contest around an arc-shaped table that holds around 7 players and the dealer.
The main aim of blackjack is not to get as close as possible to the number 21 as most people believe. It is to exceed the totals registered by the dealer or remaining below 21 when the dealer goes past. Every card in the blackjack game has some value.
The face cards count as 10 while ace cards are worth 1 to 11. All the other cards hold their pip value. Before the game commences, each player wagers in the assigned area using chips.
What does winning entail?
The best combination you can get is a two-card 21 which is referred to as the blackjack win. This combination pays 3 to 2. Nevertheless, if the dealer gets a two-card 21 too, you only get to retain your original bet, view.
This is usually referred to as the hand pushing or simply a tie and it pays 1 to 1. If the dealer happens to go on a 21 draw in 3 or more cards consecutively, then your blackjack is the winner and you get the 3 to 2 pay. It should be noted that a blackjack win entails having an ace and any face card in your possession and these must be your original 2 cards.
There is also another form of betting called insurance. This is offered on the ace of the dealer. Its cost is half of the amount placed as the bet and it serves to insure one’s hands against the blackjack of the dealer.
Once the dealer gets a blackjack in this bet, there is a 2 to 1 pay but the player loses the first wager. If the dealer misses the blackjack, the insured bet is lost and the initial amount placed by the player continues to hold.
You can also surrender while on your first 2 cards and if the dealer’s second card doesn’t result in a blackjack, half of your bet is returned.
